I am Searching for ANY and ALL Information about a Chief Eagle Plume, my 13th Great Grandpa.

I have some Paperwork stating that I am Directly Descended from a Chief Eagle plume, Supposedly of the Iroquois Nation, but I have other papers saying Cherokee. My Father and his Ancestors most Closely Resemble the Mohawk, but the Work I have done, states that the Algonquin People Met my Ancestor, John Dod or Dods at Jamestown, VA. Colony, and no one seems to be able to tell me anything. ANY help would be Greatly Appreciated! I am SO Confused! Which is it? is it Cherokee? Is it Iroquois? or is it Algonquin?
