The Lenape Indian tribe, also known as Delaware, of the Algonkin (Algonquian) linguistic stock lived along the Delaware River in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. They are called "Grandfathers" by other Algonquin Nations due to the fact that they are believed to have originated the language. Like other First Nations, the Lenape were forced from their homes by European settlers. For years, alliances were made, broken, and the Lenape always seemed to be on the losing end. Ultimately, they wound up living on a reservation in Kansas.
