The Mojave Indian tribe, of the Yman linguistic stock lived along the banks of the Lower Colorado River in California and Arizona. Their tribal structure was based on the family unit, as opposed to the more complex tribal confederacies of the Creek and Mohawk. They practiced agriculture, growing corn and beans amongst other things, and were also skilled at fishing and hunting. Their belief system was based on a singular supreme entity, and their own personal value system revolved around courage in battle. There are curently around fifteen hundred Mojave Indians living on reservations in Arizona.
